Last Friday I had the privilege of doing a presentation on closet organizing for IKEA’s 1year celebration, here in Denver! I was ecstatic to present at a store I’ve loved for many, many years and on a subject I absolutely adore. So, I wanted to create a presentation that would knock everyone’s socks off (and organize them neatly into a drawer)! As with all my presentations, I provide a tip sheet to everyone who attends with the info I talk about in the presentation, so no one has to worry about taking notes. Being the ham that I am (hey…that rhymes!) I decided to put a fun twist on the presentation, since there’s a lot to say about closet organizing and I only had 15 minutes to say it. Also, this was a fun celebration and the last thing anyone wants is a boring presentation on anything. So, I took a page out of the fire safety manual and created the STOP, DROP and ROLL Principle of Closet Organizing:
The presentation took place in front of their nicely laid out closet system. I Love how customizable the IKEA closet system is and how, even if you can’t afford or don’t have room to build a new closet, you can very easily take some of IKEA’s products and use them in your own closet. My favorites are: The Komplement multi-use hanger for scarves; the Skubb storage boxes, that fit in most drawers and help split up the drawer space; and the Skubb hanging shelf that hangs off your closet rod and adds space for folded clothing. There are a plethora (I love that word) of organizing solutions available, and while the massiveness of the store may be a bit hard to take in on a first visit, you soon learn all the short cuts! And if you need a personal tour guide, give me a call; I love to geek out amongst all those organizing tools!
Here I am getting really excited about closets in my happy place…IKEA!
All in all, it was a great day! I had a blast and hope to be able to do more of this sort of things in the future!
